San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) Headquarters
Named one of the ten most sustainable buildings of 2013 by AIA, daylighting is a key part of SFPUC’s sustainability strategy. The 13-story glass tower requires up to 45% less energy to illuminate its interior than typical Class A office buildings. It welcomes daylight, but also manages it, using Mecho SolarTrac automation.
Sustainable Sourcing
Our natural shades are woven with sustainably-sourced bamboo, jute, reeds, and grasses. The hand-selected materials are woven together to create a one-of-a-kind shade that celebrates the unique beauty of these renewable materials.
The industry-best timber we use for our handcrafted shutters and blinds is sustainably sourced from the finest timber in North America. Plus, our Grayling, Michigan wood processing plant recycles sawdust and wood shavings to generate the heat required to dry lumber and warm the facility.
Performance Fabrics
Our Solar Shades made from performance fabrics are GREENGUARD Gold Certified which means they passed rigorous testing for thousands of harmful chemicals. Standard 100 OEKO-TEX certification on our Solar Shades means we are certified for low-VOC emissions to help improve air quality.
Graber CrystalPleat Cellular shades feature a proprietary, antimicrobial coating to provide continuous protection from bacteria, fungus, mold, mildew and odor. Our performance fabrics not only look good, but can also help block heat and harmful UV rays which can damage flooring, furnishings and even your skin.

Offering our EcoLiving and EnviroStyle fabrics throughout our brands is just one way we strive to make our business environmentally conscious.
Graber’s Eco-Friendly Collection is made with 100% recycled PET material, and an average of five plastic bottles are removed from the ocean- per shade! Not only are these shades made from recycled material, but they are recyclable after use too.
Bali’s Eco-Friendly blinds and shades are made from plastic bottles recycled from the ocean, as well as 100% consumer recycled material to reduce landfill waste. All fabrics meet the GREENGAURD Gold standards, which means that they improve air quality and have low VOC emissions.
